President Erdoğan, Finnish President Niinistö, Swedish Prime Minister Andersson and NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg are attending the meeting at the IFEMA Congress Center in Madrid, where the NATO Summit is held.
The meeting, hosted by NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg, is closed to the press.
Emphasizing that the security concerns of the allies should be taken into account when new countries join NATO, Stoltenberg said:
“Turkey has expressed serious concerns about issues such as terrorism. We all know that no NATO country has suffered as much from terrorist attacks as Turkey. Thousands of people have died. The PKK and other groups are responsible for these terrorist attacks. The PKK is a terrorist organization. Not only many NATO members, but also the European Union, Finland.” and Sweden defines the PKK as a terrorist organization. We will sit down with Turkey and talk about how more can be done to fight terrorism.”
