Steve Scalise left the race almost two weeks ago, when it became clear that he would not be able to persuade the representatives of the far-right wing of the party behind him in a possible speaker vote.
Next, the Republicans in the House of Representatives nominated Scalise, who narrowly lost in the beginning by Jim Jordanwhich in turn is a favorite of the Republican far-right.
There was even time to vote three times for Jordan to become speaker, but he failed to get the necessary 217 votes. After the poor voting success, the party people decided to move Jordan aside.

– He was not MAGA, Trump commented on Emmer’s withdrawal, referring to his own campaign.
