The story told here is over 100 years old. The book contains eleven volumes. The adaptation, on the other hand, flopped and, despite plans for a trilogy, was buried forever and the rights to it were given up. Which is a real shame because the movie is as entertaining as it is unique.

Readers with a penchant for classic space opera and sci-fi might guess that we’re talking about John Carter – Between Two Worlds, which is based on the Barsoom series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The film adaptation deserves much more loveas she got from her studio and the audience of her time, so we’ll take on the barker’s job here: Watch John Carter on Disney+ – it’s worth it!

In the sci-fi film John Carter, our title character finds himself in the middle of a war on Mars

He becomes a soldier in the civil war – and soon finds himself in a completely different, much bigger battle. Because one day John will leave his earthly home for one completely alien planet.

The locals call it Barsoom – but for humans the name is simply: Mars. Not only do different natural laws and physical conditions prevail here, but also the commandments alien creatures. Unfortunately, they are in constant conflict with each other.

Which sci-fi film apart from the monstrous Avatar franchise still takes us to unusual planets today? Which captures the naive charm of ancient ideas about life in space in a modern, creative way? The examples can probably be counted on one hand. It will be even more fun to be in the world again in 2024 unique world by John Carter to lose.

Here fantasy meets sci-fi, wild creatures and bizarre aliens meet strange technologies, epic battles meet great love. Exactly these Mixture of adventure, romance and strange world marks a different era of science fiction. A far cry from polished spaceships and AIs. A time full of wild ideas that sometimes simply offers better variety for space fans.

It’s a shame that we should never get more time with this wonderful world. John Carter flopped at the time and the originally planned trilogy never came to fruition. The ideas that have now been published for the sequel that was planned at the time sound really promising.

So all we can do is wait for a possible new edition. Until then, we still have the first part of the planned series, which is you can currently be streamed on Disney+.
