One Piece mangaka Eiichiro Oda usually draws his stories with his right hand, as he is right-handed. However, for a messenger service campaign, Oda drew many of the characters with his left hand. Some fans wish there was a manga for this.
What kind of action is this? To mark the 27th anniversary of the manga, Oda drew many characters from the One Piece universe with his left hand. These include all the members of the Straw Hat Pirates, but also other characters such as Enel, who has since moved on to somewhere else entirely.
The characters are now available as stickers on LINE. Unfortunately, the stickers are not available in Germany. LINE is the equivalent of Whatsapp and is increasingly used in Japan, which is why the campaign is intended for this area.
The stickers also feature some Japanese sayings that match the characters.
The sketches don’t look as good as the originals. The outlines are more scrawly than the originals and there are no detailed facial features like Oda would have been able to achieve with his right hand.
Some of them even give fans nightmares. But most of the manga characters delight fans.
One Piece also has some cool ships:
Fans want manga with Oda’s left hand
What do the fans say about it? In the Reddit forum, many users think that Oda should publish some short stories with the characters drawn with his left hand, as the art style looks interesting enough for that.
One user even thinks that Jimbei and Hiyori look like Oda drew them with his right hand. The mermaid princess Shirahoshi and Big Mom could also appear in the manga like this.
Many readers in the reddit forum wish there would be a manga with these iconic characters.
Some users are also amazed that Oda can draw so well even with his weak hand. Some people can’t even draw that well with their dominant hand. User Chileinsg writes that Oda’s left hand has more skill than his entire body combined.
However, there is one character that gives users nightmares. Nico Robin was mistaken for Trebol by one user and the scene from the anime where she begs for her life would probably cause harm to readers.
Readers are in luck, because Nico Robin was originally supposed to look completely different. Eiichiro Oda’s first sketches show her in a somewhat scrawled form with horns: Official sketches for One Piece show that 2 members of the Straw Hats were supposed to look completely different
