Second test for Elon Musk’s Starship rocket, after a failure last April. The American regulator has given the green light for a new takeoff attempt this Saturday, November 18. If successful, SpaceX’s vehicle would be the most powerful rocket ever built to successfully complete its mission in space.
SpaceX’s objective with this imposing 120 meter high spacecraft capable of transporting 100 to 150 tonnes of equipment and food: to offer a vehicle to NASA for its Artemis missions returning to the Moon.
With its 33 engines, the reusable super-heavy space launcher should allow Elon Musk to take a further step towards the colonization of Mars, the dream of the American billionaire who encouraged him to launch the company SpaceX.
The flight plan will be the same as during the first failed attempt: an almost complete tour of the Earth before diving into the Pacific near Hawaii, all “just below” Earth’s orbit.
