The Cowabunga Collection has received a major update

TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection update brings online multiplayer to Turtles in Time!

Konami today announced the first major update to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection. The first patch brings new gameplay improvements that will make 13 classic TMNT games even more fun! Changes to improve online modes are also included in this patch.

It is stated that online multiplayer mode will be added to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (Super Nintendo) with this update, while online multiplayer features will be added to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Manhattan Project (NES) in future updates.

Additionally, new tips and tricks have been added to the strategy guides to help players gain an edge over their opponents in both Tournament Fighter games and make Splinter Master proud. Customizable button mapping, additional screen filters for all GameBoy games, and other quality of life changes are also among the new updates.

  • The Home Menu icon has been replaced with a box image. (Switch)
  • PS4 arcade controller is now supported. PS4 joystick support has arrived (PS5)
  • Xbox arcade stick is now supported. Xbox joystick support has arrived (XB1/XSX)
  • When creating an online lobby, the player can now adjust the lobby size for two arcade games. The host can limit the game to 2, 3 or 4 players.
  • When creating an online lobby, the player can now set the frame delay to “Auto”. When this is set, the input lag is adjusted based on the number of players.
  • Added a new enhancement to SNES and Super Famicom TMNT: Tournament Fighters. Ultimate Attacks can now be turned ON/OFF in Story Mode.
  • Added a new enhancement to Super Famicom TMNT: Tournament Fighters. “Group Mode” can now be enabled ON/OFF. (Available only in Japanese version.)
  • A new enhancement has been added to Arcade US/JP Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The number of lives per coin can be adjusted from 1-5.
  • Added a new enhancement to Arcade US Turtles in Time. The number of lives per coin can be adjusted between 1-8.
  • A new enhancement has been added to Arcade US/JP Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Game difficulty can be adjusted.
  • Added a new enhancement to Arcade US Turtles in Time. Game difficulty can be adjusted.
  • Added a new enhancement to Arcade US Turtles in Time. Game Loop can now be turned ON/OFF. When ON, the game starts over after the credits run out.
  • Added new button action to “Arcade US/JP TMNT”, “Arcade US Turtles in Time”, “SNES/Super Famicom Turtles in Time” and “Genesis/MegaDrive Hyperstone Heist”. Players can now assign a button to “Custom”. This button presses “Attack” and “Jump” together to make it easier to perform special attacks.
  • A new color enhancement has arrived for all GameBoy games. Added GBC Mode ON/OFF. Added a new “Color Palette” option to the Pause Menu for all GameBoy games. In addition to other filters, players can choose from 4 color palettes: 1st black and white, 2nd GameBoy green, 3rd GameBoy Pocket green, 4th GameBoy Light blue.
  • Sound and Main Menu adjusted for various games
  • Additional pages for NES Tournament Fighters and GEN Tournament Fighters have been added to the Strategy Guide.
  • Added additional page to Strategy Guide for GEN Tournament Fighters and GEN Hyperstone Heist.
  • Visual settings can now be saved individually per game.

Fixed issues:

  • Fixed the German translation of “Punch repeatedly” for page 11 of the strategy guide.
  • In the music player, the cassette icon for the arcade TMNT show now displays the correct icon.
  • Changed the Turtle Hint 3 screenshot on page 5 of the Strategy Guide (SNES Turtles in Time)
  • On SNES Turtles in Time, Stage Select enhancements now work even after changing settings in Options.
  • Stage Select enhancements in Hyperstone Heist now work when selecting 2 players.
  • The Easy Menu Navigation enhancement for TMNT III Manhattan Project (NES) / TMNT 2 Manhattan Project (Famicom) now works.
  • Extra Credits improvements for SNES Tournament Fighters now work
  • 18-19 missing from the SNES Turtles in Time guide at the museum. The pages are now included.
