A federal appeals court on Monday upheld the jury’s decision that the president-elect Donald Trump’s must pay five million dollars E. To Jean Carroll sexual abuse and defamation.
At the end of a trial in New York last year, a jury decided that Trump was guilty of sexually abusing Carroll in a Manhattan department store in 1996.
Trump was ordered to pay Carroll two million dollars for sexual assault and $3 million for defamation.
Trump denied the allegations and appealed the verdict. He pleaded that the court should not have been allowed to hear the testimony of two other women who also said that Trump sexually assaulted them.
Carroll was also awarded $83 million in damages in another lawsuit against Trump. Trump has also appealed against this sentence.
