The couple’s weapon against invasive plants – pigs on the plot in Nättraby

The three Linderöds pigs Astrid, Gunilla and Lukas actually live on a farm in Nybro, but since the end of May they have been leased to the couple in Nättraby, where they will be allowed to stay for about another month, something that The BLT was first with telling.

For this, the couple paid SEK 1,500 as an initiation fee and then SEK 500 a month.

– You could say it’s like a private lease of pigs, says Hedda Kylberg.

Neighbors positive

In the back, they have a permit for animal husbandry from the County Administrative Board. Before the arrival of the pigs, they also contacted neighbors in the residential area.

– They have only been positive from the beginning, says Eliaz Edoff.

In a little more than a month, the animals have basically eaten all the park lettuce that was on the plot, but it still remains to be seen whether the control attempt has been successful.

– We will find out in maybe one or two years when enough time has passed for us to see if it comes back, says Eliaz Edoff.
