Soestdijk is part of the Nature Network of the Netherlands. Nature must not be affected in this network. Because it has been very quiet in the woods around the palace for a long time, all kinds of special species live there, such as the grass snake, the long-eared owl and the badger. According to the objectors, there are many flaws in the protective measures that have been drawn up for flora and fauna. The calculation of nitrogen emissions and environmental nuisance due to habitation is also incorrect, say for example Natuurmonumenten, the Nature and Environment Federation Utrecht and Het Utrechts Landschap.
