It cannot be ruled out that the coronavirus originally came from a laboratory. That’s what George Gao, former head of the Chinese Public Health Authority, says in an interview with the British BBC.

The Chinese government has dismissed all theories that the virus may have originated in a laboratory in the Chinese city of Wuhan.

But George Gao, who played a key role in China’s handling of the pandemic, is not as categorical.

– You can’t rule anything out, he says to the BBC.
