The corona virus does not scare Swedes: Not particularly worried

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The spread of the coronavirus this winter looks like it could be as high as the peak in January 2022 and hit healthcare hard, warns the Public Health Agency.

In recent weeks, the virus has increased sharply and according to the authority, the infection may reach its peak between the beginning and the middle of January.

But the fear of being infected is not very great among those whom TV4 Nyheterna has met.

– I am not particularly worried. You have to take the day as it comes and try to avoid being too close to people, says Cathrine Hallsten.

The most likely thing is that the infection will continue at the same level as today, roughly 2,600 new cases per day.

In the second scenario, the infection increases further to around 3,400 new reported cases per day.

– I am personally not so worried about myself, but more about my surroundings as a grandmother and the elderly, says Isabelle Söderberg.

Several hospitals have gone into staff mode. But there will be no new restrictions, but what applies is that those who are ill must stay at home and that people over 65 and risk groups are recommended to take a top-up dose.
