Thousands of citizens angry against Macron’s policies, against the high cost of living, against the technocratic decisions of Paris have decided to converge on the capital to say their fed up.
It is gone. Since this Wednesday morning, six convoys composed of cars and motorcycles have left from different cities in France to go to Paris, Friday, February 11, 2022. On the model of the Canadian truckers who have been blocking Ottawa for ten days, the Freedom Convoy brings together in France thousands of citizens who reject the vaccine pass and all the restrictive measures imposed on the French, without proven scientific justification, since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Yellow Vests
But there are not only anti-vax people who go to Paris. There are also all those who can no longer bear the increase in the price of energy (fuel, gas, electricity), the stupid decisions of the government, the authoritarian policy of the Jupiterian president who decides everything for everyone. The demonstrators who communicate via social networks have claims close to those of the Yellow Vests. They intend to regain, they say, “their freedom, their fundamental rights, unconditional access to care, education and culture, respect for the essential values of our constitution.” Extensive program.
Planned itinerary
Even if the organization has had a little difficulty in setting up, the route to Paris and the different stages seem to be now fixed (see interactive map).
Since this Wednesday morning, several convoys left from Nice, Perpignan, Strasbourg and elsewhere, first of all private cars largely decorated with tricolored flags and sometimes with Canadian flags. Many motorcyclists accompanied these “Convoys of Freedom” in a noisy din of horns and roaring engines. All in a good-natured atmosphere.
We are pacifists,” explains one driver. We don’t want to bother the French. We will use the secondary network.
These convoys, which have left from the South, will make several stops before reaching the capital where a large rally is planned for Saturday. Already, several political parties have decided to join this unprecedented protest in France, and no one knows yet whether it will gather supporters along the way or provoke rejection on its way.
In any case, the police and gendarmerie forces have started to converge towards the capital. A big mess is to be feared this weekend on the roads of France.
