Next year, in the F1 races, you will no longer get an extra point for the fastest lap.
The royal category of motor sports, formula one, will see a significant rule change for the next season. You no longer get an extra point for the fastest lap of the race. About that boat the motor sports council of the international automobile association FIA on Thursday.
The rule flinched earlier this year when the Racing Bulls Daniel Ricciardo grabbed an extra point for McLaren at the Singapore GP Lando From Norris in the final round of the competition. Norris is fighting for the championship against the star driver of Racing Bulls’ parent company, Red Bull Max Verstappen against. Ricciardo’s career ended in that race, and he no longer had a stake in the actual results of the race. Ricciardo also did not get an extra point himself, because he did not reach the top ten in the race.
McLaren was upset by the situation. Team manager Andrea Stella reminded of sportsmanship and considered the activity perhaps inappropriate.
The additional points rule in the F1 series has been in effect since 2019. In addition, the FIA changed the rule related to young drivers. Now F1 teams are forced to train so-called young drivers twice instead of once. In the regulations, a young driver means a driver who has driven no more than two F1 races.
The biggest rule changes in the F1 series will come into effect for the 2026 season.
