Turnover in the grocery trade increased by 6.6 percent compared to the same month last year – and the increase goes hand in hand with the high inflation. Higher inflation means higher food prices and less food in the basket for the money of those who shop. But who will take the financial hit?

One thing that has affected food prices is so-called shrink inflation – meaning that a package has the same price as before, but has less content.

– It is something that upsets consumers. We get lots of examples where consumers write in and call us. You can accept that prices are rising, but I don’t want the store to go dark, that it will actually become more expensive, says Maria Wiezell, consumer advisor at Sweden’s Consumers.
