Train traffic is stopped on the night of Saturday and reopens on the night of Monday. The stretch between Hässleholm and Älmhult is heavily trafficked with worn catenary lines and the risk of disruption is high.
– The Swedish Transport Administration shuts down the route to enable work that requires a total shut down during production and for safety reasons so that production personnel working with the catenary replacement have a safe working environment, says Jonas Wellberg, project manager at the Swedish Transport Administration.
The load is expected to increase
The number of trains operating the six-mile-long route is expected to increase in the coming years.
– By replacing the catenary system, operational reliability increases, which means that collective and environmentally friendly travel will become more reliable.
