The company replies: Worm was a lump of dough

Company response: It hid in Marin’s bag • “Will not buy chips again”

Marin Yousef got a shock when she thought she saw a worm in the chip bag.
Now the chip manufacturer denies that it is a mask.
“We want to assure you that it was not a worm, but a piece of deformed dough from production,” writes chip manufacturer Maks to TV4 Nyheterna.

It was last Friday that Västerås resident Marin Yousef had settled down on the sofa and opened a bag of chips that she made a strange discovery. One of the chips in her hand didn’t look like a chip – but a mask.

– I left it on the plate and was shocked and mad, she says to Efter fem.

The North Macedonian company Maks, which produces the chips, has investigated the matter, and can now announce that it is not a worm.

“We want to assure you that it was not a worm, but a piece of deformed dough from production. It cannot be a mask, as they are not allowed in production,” the company writes in a statement.

Takes the incident seriously

The company Green Sales Distributions, which distributes the chips in Sweden, takes the incident seriously.

“We understand that it may have been unpleasant. However, we can assure Marin that it is not a mask but a piece of dough/batter,” writes Green Sales Distribution’s quality manager Sofia Israelsson to TV4 Nyheterna.

According to Sofia Israelsson, the lump of dough “has not undergone the complete processing process and therefore does not have the same consistency or appearance as the ‘sticks'”. The piece of dough may be perceived as unappetizing due to its texture and appearance, but is not dangerous to eat.

“Will not buy chips again”

Usually, these types of dough lumps are discovered and thrown away. The company Maks, which produces the chips, will now review its production equipment and take the necessary measures to ensure that something like this does not happen again.

Despite the explanation, Marin Yousef is doubtful and it will be some time before she regains her craving for chips.

– I will not buy chips again. At least not now, but in the future I don’t know how it will be.
