Sweden has dominated completely in the skiing WC.
But ahead of the women’s relay, Norway is now sending a sharp warning.
– Now we’re going to show Sweden, says Thiril Udnes Weng.
Norway cheered loudly after Sunday’s sprint relay, even though arch-rival Sweden had to stand at the top of the podium. Norway has not been known to be any experts in the team sprint in recent years, and therefore the second place was a real success for Anne Kjersti Kalvå and Tiril Udnes Weng.
Cheering for the silver
But they could not count on the superb Jonna Sundling and Emma Ribom, who defended Sweden’s gold from the WC in Oberstdorf two years ago. Sweden has completely dominated the women’s side of the WC so far, with three gold medals from three races.
But in Norway, despite that, they are confident ahead of Thursday’s relay. Sweden has lined up fine positions, with a total of six medals on the women’s side – but despite that, Norway was satisfied with Sunday’s competitions.
– We solve it well, have good changes and are far ahead all the way. We stay out of trouble and give the Swedes a real fight. A good day, says Tiril Udnes Weng to TV2.

“Now we’re going to bash me…”
Udnes Weng himself was surprised that Norway threatened Sweden.
– That we managed to keep up with Sweden and threaten for the gold was an “aha experience”, says Kalvå.
Now there is also a sharp warning to Sweden ahead of the relay.
– We are getting in better and better shape. Now we have to make sure to challenge Sweden, says Udnes Weng.
Sjur Ole Svarstad is the Norwegian national team coach, and he too is looking forward to Thursday’s relay, after seeing with satisfied eyes Norway take a silver in the sprint relay.
– Anne Kjersti and Tiril show that they are in shape now. We definitely haven’t seen the last of them in the Championship.
