The Swedish ladies delivered a truly wonderful WC double today.
When Hanna Öberg and Linn Persson drove home both silver and bronze in the sprint.

After the tough WC premiere for the Swedish national biathlon team, Friday was a very nice revenge. At the WC sprint in Oberhof surprised Hanna Öberg and Lynn Persson significantly and exceeded expectations for the day.
The WC double
Öberg settled with the home run Denise Hermann-Wick for the WC gold and it would be a close second battle, where the Swede had to settle for the silver. Then Linn Persson came and drove past everyone to take a very impressive bronze medal.

The WC silver is Öberg’s very first medal in a sprint and for Persson it was the first individual medal in a championship ever. After the finish there was a huge hug party in the Swedish team and the joy was total for the blue and yellow double.

“I’m shaking”
And of course the most surprising was Linn Persson’s giant race.
– She flies past the others, exclaimed the SVT commentator Ola Branholm when she entered the riot.

After the race, the national team coach was John Luke taken and moved by Persson’s fantastic effort.
– She has a head like no other. There is no one who can stop her at the end, he says in the SVT broadcast and admits that he was really nervous at the end.
– It is not a sustainable environment. It shakes the whole body, it’s what we worked for all year.
