Sebastian Samuelsson and Martin Ponsiluoma broke Norway’s Johannes Thingnes Bø. Samuelsson shot full and secured the WC gold while Ponsiluoma was strong in the lane and was able to keep Bø behind him and take the silver.
Afterwards, everyone raved about the huge success and thought it was a perfect end to a successful Swedish championship. In total, Sweden took eleven medals – a new Swedish championship record.
“Very good”
— What an ending, one could not have dreamed of it. “Sebbe” said before today’s competition that it will be tough. He thought he would have a hard time on the shooting range and that he needed to work extra, says shooting coach Johan Hagström.
— “Ponsi” was more into the fact that he likes competitions like this. He does it very well. Sebbe takes it easy when he shoots and “Ponsi” does the opposite. He shoots quickly. Both did very well.
— Before the championship, I did not believe that we as a national team would win so many medals. We beat the record (six medals in Pokljuka 2021) by horse lengths.
Enjoy the hellish weather
National team coach Johannes Lukas has hardly any words to describe the Swedish double victory.
— We had a very good meeting last night when everyone was happy (after the relay bronze) and energetic and had received medals and cake. This morning I sent a message in our group and wrote “go out and enjoy, it’s the last day of the hell weather station,” says Lukas.
