The club owned by Ed Sheeran celebrated a historic victory

Ipswich achieved its first victory in the Premier League since 2002. Ed Sheeran, who witnessed the victory, has been involved in the action in recent years.

A world-class artist Ed Sheeran watched from the stands as his co-owned club Ipswich claimed their first Premier League victory in over 22 years. Ipswich defeated Tottenham away with 2–1 goals.

Sheeran has been a fan of the club since childhood. He bought a 1.4 percent stake in the club in the summer, but he is not a voting shareholder or board member.

However, the victory was special for Sheeran, as Ipswich wore the pink jersey designed together by the club and him for the first time. Sheeran has been a sponsor of the club since 2021.

– We played with our third shirt, which he was involved in designing. Maybe he brought us luck, manager Kieran McKenna quoth According to the BBC.

After scoring for Ipswich Sammie Szmodis heard about Sheeran’s presence after the match, he wanted to have the world star in the dressing room. This also came true.

– He congratulated the boys. “Everyone knows he’s been a big part of the club for the last few years with the support he’s given so it was great to have him here,” McKenna said.

McKenna involved for years

McKenna has been building Ipswich’s new rise for a few years now. In December 2021, the club was ranked 12th in the English Premier League when McKenna replaced by Paul Cook as head coach.

At the end of McKenna’s first full season, Ipswich were promoted to the English Championship. Last season, the upward flight culminated in promotion to the Premier League.

– For those of us who have been involved for a couple of years, this was a really significant day, McKenna admitted.

The first win of the season in the Premier League lifted Ipswich above the relegation zone. It was in second-to-last place before Sunday.
