One way to get a little extra bang for your buck is to dig where you stand. What items do you have at home, which you may no longer use, which can be sold on second-hand markets and thereby provide an extra income?
For News24 have Andreas Siesingwho is a manager at Auctionet and who previously worked as a home appraiser, previously told us that there are often unexpected valuables in Swedish homes.
– Many times what the parents may have flagged for, by saying “this painting is worth a lot of money”, is not what is valuable, but something else entirely. It could be a very worn-out Danish armchair that is appreciated by the market today. So it’s not at all unusual for people to have items at home that are more valuable than they think.

“Crazy prices on tea and coffee cups”
And there are a whole host of items that can be far more valuable than you might think, including games, cell phones, furniture and art.
But you can also have some real trinkets in your display cabinet or kitchen cabinet. According to Andreas Siesing, one has seen “many surprised price quotations” on porcelain and it seems to be a category that stands out.
– In recent years, we have seen absolutely crazy prices for Swedish tea and coffee cups from the 40s, 50s and 60s. They have almost surprised the most.

Which Swedish crockery can you make a fortune on by selling at auction?
– The classics Berså, Spisa Ribb and Blå Eld plus a few more. Karin Björquists Nobel service is red hot, but the really high prices are for single tea and coffee cups as I said, for example “Pearl hyacinth”, “Delila”, “Fructus”.
When Nyheter24 takes a closer look at how the final prices for the mentioned cups have looked lately, it turns out that a tea cup in the model “Pearl hyacinth” with accessories, from Upsala Ekeby, was sold for 8,000 at Auctionet in June 2024. The same cup was hammered for similar prices during 2023.

The “Fructus” coffee cup from Rörstrand is also valuable. With a barrel, it has been sold for around SEK 3,000 at Auctionet this year.
