The Church of Sweden started Örebro’s first electric car pool: “Many students who rent”

During the trial period from April to November last year, the two electric cars in the pool were rented out 220 times. According to the calculations, this meant that the direct emissions from car journeys in Örebro decreased by roughly 2.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide. And now they continue with the investment until November this year – to begin with.

– Then we get to evaluate. But it has taken off well now. Not least there are many students who rent for a short time, groups of friends who are going shopping and so on. Even smaller companies and organizations have rented the cars, and now this summer we have also had long-term rentals, says Johan Asplund.

“Want to take responsibility for the climate”

What does the church do with the merit?

– There will be no financial gain, that is not why we are doing this. We want to take responsibility for the climate, contribute to the transition and show that we care, says Johan Asplund.
