The Chinese embassy comments on the accusations of threats to the security of the kingdom

Task investigation and GP revealed on Monday that a Chinese journalist is suspected of having conducted security-threatening activities in Sweden for over a decade. Now she is to be deported with a lifetime ban on returning, following a government decision last week.

For the first time, the Chinese embassy is now commenting on the case. In an article on their website, they write that they urge their citizens to follow the country’s laws – but that they also attach great importance to protecting their citizens’ legitimate interests.

“The Chinese embassy calls on the Swedish side to guarantee that the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens in Sweden are not violated,” the embassy writes.

“No smearing will stop China’s development”

It also appears that they are attacking the media that reported on the case.

“No smearing or any attacks will stop China’s development and progress. We hope that the media can do more things that promote the friendship between the Chinese and Swedish people and the common development of the two countries.”

Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer has also sent a written comment to GP and SVT via his press secretary:

“On April 4, the government decided to reject an appeal against a decision on deportation under the law on the special control of certain aliens (LSU). Otherwise, I cannot comment on the individual case,” he writes.
