The child’s mother breaks her silence

A kindergarten teacher was filmed hitting a 3-year-old girl on the first day of school at a school in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. The victim has since shown signs of severe trauma.

The start of the school year turned into a nightmare for this little girl. The three-year-old child was starting her first day at the Frères-Voisins nursery school, located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, when she was assaulted by a teacher on September 4, 2024. On Tuesday evening, the girl’s mother spoke out for the first time about the assault her child experienced. After discovering the video two days after the incident, “I was in shock,” the mother confided. “I would never have imagined [ce comportement de la part de] the mistress,” she said.

Today, her daughter is “not well at all, she cries all the time. She throws things on the floor, she doesn’t want to play with her brothers. She doesn’t want to look people” in the eye. “Now, she just wants to be stuck behind me,” explains the mother, who says that the little girl no longer accepts being with other people around her and seems to have lost trust in adults.

Shocking video of girl’s assault released

The scene was filmed by a parent, the mother of another girl, whose presence does not seem to have been noticed by the school teacher. The images show a little girl crying and an adult hitting her in the back. The child appears to fall under the force of the blow. The student, who continues to cry, is then put in the corner and sprayed with a liquid by the teacher who says: “There, does that feel good?”

It was only the next day that the mother of the child who had been beaten was informed of the facts, when a parent showed her the video of her child being mistreated by the teacher. She then understood that the complaints expressed by her daughter the night before, after the first day of school, about a blow given to her by the teacher were not exaggerated. The mother of the child filed a complaint against the teacher at the Issy-les-Moulineaux police station and gave a copy of the video to the police.

The case must now be dealt with and two investigations, one criminal and the other administrative, have been opened. It has already prompted a reaction from the Minister of Education, Nicole Belloubet, who denounced a “shocking and unacceptable” scene on school grounds. The minister decided on the “immediate suspension” of the teacher and requested the opening “without delay” of disciplinary proceedings on Tuesday, September 10, a week after the events.

Child victim of “severe psychological trauma”

While going back to school is not easy for all children, the scene experienced by this little girl on her first day of school created “severe psychological trauma” according to the general practitioner who examined her on September 6 and whose conclusions are relayed by BFMTV. The child is “disturbed” and “anxious” and has not returned to class since the violence she suffered according to her mother also quoted by the continuous news channel. New medical examinations are planned with other health professionals. But “it will take time and specialists to put [la petite fille] on foot” according to the family’s lawyer, Vanessa Edberg, guest of BFMTV this September 10th.

“A child should not suffer an act of violence and especially not in a school, it is a radical contradiction. We take things very seriously,” reacted the rector of the Paris academy, Bernard Beignier. The latter assured its “complete support” to the family and the victim. Concerning the profile of the teacher, he explains that her file reveals nothing and that she has been practicing “for many years”, in kindergarten which is more according to the mayor of the 15th arrondissement of Paris, Philippe Goujon. The teacher who has worked for ten years in the Frères-Voisins school was received on September 6 by the director of the establishment and an inspector. She admitted the facts and apologized to the family.
