Norwegian Magnus Carlsen was named the world’s all-time best chess player on Thursday. He received the award from the president of the International Chess Federation, the Russian Arkady Dvorkovich, and at the same time took the opportunity to demand that the federation does not allow Russia and Belarus into the federation again.

– Personally, I think that Garry Kasparov had a better career, but I understand why I get the award. But I want to say, to Garry’s credit, that I’m sure he would have taken the opportunity to advise against letting the Russian and Belarusian federations in again. So I want to do that too, said Carlsen.

During the congress of the international trade union Fides in Hungary, there has been a motion from Kyrgyzstan to admit Russia and Belarus into the union.

Sweden and the other Nordic countries say no to easing the sanctions against Belarus and Russia.
