The murder of Mikael – we know that about the 18-year-old suspect
5:07
On April 10, Mikael Janicki, 39, and his son cycled to Skärholmen’s swimming pool.
On the way there, they come across a group of young people with whom Mikael ends up in a confrontation for some reason. It would be the last thing he did.
In the police’s preliminary investigation, the picture of the entire course of events is now clarified.

Mikael and his son cycled through the underpass on their way to the swimming pool. At the hall’s entrance, Mikael leaves his son, before turning back to the underpass to confront the gang.
Then a verbal argument breaks out between him and the young people, according to information from the interrogation. One of them pulls out a weapon and fires a shot at Mikael’s feet. Mikael goes against it and tries to get hold of the gun. But then another shot is fired. It hits Mikael in the head and he falls to the ground.
The suspected perpetrators flee the scene on a bicycle.

“Anybody’s Dad”
The day after the suspected murder, two of the men, who are suspected of aggravated protection of a criminal, have contact with each other. In chats secured by the police, they write to each other about the murder, the police suspect.
And it appears that “both are complaining about what happened”, according to what the police write in the preliminary investigation. One of them states that he feels bad about what happened.
– Anyone’s dad. Brother, writes one.
– De va cok sind om shunon (very sorry for him, eds. note), replies the other.
After that, one asks questions about how the murder happened.
– Did he do them? 1 shot? asks one.
– No. 3–4, the other answers.

All of these messages have since been deleted. The police write that there is a large percentage of content from chats that has not yet been secured.
When Aftonbladet met Mikael’s family before the prosecution was to be brought, they told us that the wounds were torn open again. And soon they will sit on trial when Mikael’s suspected murderer will be heard.
– It has been a very difficult time. I don’t know where these months have gone, and now the year is almost over. We are still stuck on the day when we received the death notice, his sister Aneta said at the time.

Now Mikael’s relatives hope for a long sentence, but are afraid of being disappointed.
– For me, it is not a real verdict if they are released quickly. Although the shooter was a minor when it happened, he has taken someone’s life. I hope they get a heavy punishment. That they have to live in misery, just like we have done since he died, she says.
The murder of Mikael has received a lot of media attention. In April, several politicians also visited Skärholmen, but their participation in the mourning was criticized.
The trial begins on January 13.
