The charges related to Donald Trump’s storage of secret documents are dropped, US media reports, citing a court record.
The message comes from a judge in Florida appointed by Donald Trump, writes AFP. The reason is that the special prosecutor Jack Smith was wrongly appointed.
“The superordinate indictment is dismissed because the appointment of Special Prosecutor Smith violates the Appointments Clause of the United States Constitution,” the judge writes in the minutes obtained by ABC News.
Had secret documents in his private residence
This applies, among other things, to the documents that the former president had in his Mar-a-Lago residence after his time in office.
He has also been accused of endangering national security by keeping top secret documents after leaving the White House and also preventing authorities from accessing them.
