The chairman of JymyJussie mourns the departure from the series

The men’s Superpesis team Seinäjoki JymyJussit is not allowed to continue in the series. The team was supposed to face Kitee on Tuesday evening, when Superpesis’ decision ended the season.

On Tuesday morning, there was hard news about Superpesis. The men’s Superpesis team Seinäjoki JymyJussit is not entitled to participate in the regular season matches after the regular season due to the violation of the terms of the series contract. At the same time, JymyJussit loses his place in the men’s Superpesis series.

– As mentioned in the announcement, the terms of the series contract have been violated. To clarify that it is about financial matters, the executive director of the Päsäpalloliitto contacted by Urheilu Miika Rantatorikka told.

Rantatorikka did not agree to specify which condition exactly the team has broken.

The decision that came in the middle of the season can be considered surprising, because JymyJussie should have played today against Kiteen Pallo in the quarter-final qualifiers starting on Tuesday.

JymyJussit can appeal the decision to the Sports Legal Protection Board in accordance with the rules of the Päsäpalloliitto.

This is how the president of the club commented

Chairman of the board of JymyJussie Ossi Viljanen told STT that the club did not manage the performance related to the series contract by the deadline.

– This is why they made such an extremely brutal decision. We explained to them what the situation was and we had a solution for this, but the deadline was the deadline and they made such a decision, Viljanen stated.

– I understand that there have been challenges. On the other hand, I understand that you have to be fair to everyone. I can’t change the decision for any reason and that’s fine. It must be respected now.

JymyJussit was founded in 2012, when Nurmon’s Jymy and Seinäjoki’s Maila-Jussit merged. JymyJussie’s financial challenges hit the headlines earlier in the corona year 2020, when Ilkka-Pohjalainen told that the club was placed on the protest list due to tax debts.

According to the tax debt register, Jymy-Jussit Oy had an unpaid tax debt of at least 10,000 euros at the end of July, but according to Viljanen’s view, the club’s financial curve was slowly rising to the plus side.

– After all, it all goes back to the beginning, when the whole JymyJussit was founded. That’s when the (financial) burden kind of came into being, and now a lot of that burden had already been reduced, it was already turning to the side of profit. That’s why this feels extremely terrible to me, Viljanen said.

Viljanen could not suddenly say whether JymyJussit will be seen on the baseball league fields in the future. The club has not been assigned a place in the league for next season.

– Here you have to look at your own thoughts and think about how to move forward. I can’t give a direct answer.

Changes to the match schedule and series system

The decision to lose JymyJussie’s place in the series brings changes to the series program. JymyJussie, who finished tenth in the regular season, was supposed to start the quarterfinals against Kiteen Pallo on Tuesday, but now Kitee’s opponent will be Imatra’s Pallo-Veikot. Kitee and IPV will play their opening match on Wednesday.

This season, not a single team will be relegated from Superpesis directly to Ikköspesis, as there are now 12 teams. Alajärvi Ankkurei and Hamina Palloilii, who were left in the jumbo places in the regular season, were supposed to meet on Wednesday in a rematch, but now the teams play the relegation qualifiers with the best-of-five system. The winner of the match series keeps their place in the series, the loser plays for the place in the series against the winner of Ykköspesis.
