The Center Party says no to the ban on AR-15

The government and the Swedish Democrats have, after the deed in Örebro, when ten people were shot to death, agreed on a proposal to ban so -called military -like semi -automatic weapons when hunting. For example, AR-15, a weapon used in several school shootings in the United States.

The issue has led to battle within SD. Earlier this week, Swedish Democrat Richard Jomshof announced that he is leaving the post of chairman of the Justice Committee when he did not want to push through the party decision to introduce a ban on the weapons in question.

The Center Party is now the only party that continues to drive the weapons to be allowed to use when hunting.

– I understand that many want quick solutions. But if we stop in the important question – how do we prevent something like this ever to happen again in Sweden? Then you have to look at the issues that are difficult, those that take longer to solve, says center leader Muharrem Demirok for 30 minutes.

The weapon shoots faster

One of the heaviest arguments for introducing a ban is that this type of weapon can be modified so that you can have more bullets in the rifle and shoot faster.

For 30 minutes, Demirok gets asked if he sees any risk with it:

– Yes, but if we look back to Örebro: there were ten people who lost their lives. This weapon was not used, says the center leader.

It could have been many more, if this weapon had been used?

– I think that ten people who were murdered, it is enough for all alarm bells to sound. We need to do something drastic.
If it is just about an individual variety, then we forget the big question, says Muharrem Demirok.
