According to the Climate Act, the government must present a climate policy action plan to show what measures are being taken to reduce Sweden’s emissions. When climate and environment minister Romina Pourmokhtari (L) visited TV4 Nyhetsmorgon on Friday morning, she says that the plan may come too late.
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) then wrote to TV4 and directed criticism at the minister. They believe that she is breaking the law with her choice of words.
“In that case, it would be contrary to Section 5 of the Climate Act, which states that the plan “shall” be presented this year, not “should” as Romina falsely claims. The climate crisis is happening here and now!”
KU notifies the climate minister
The Center Party is now working on presenting a KU report against the climate minister.

“Intent to break the law”
Muharrem Demirok emphasizes that Romina Pourmokhtari cannot afford to “slurp her words”. He believes that the climate action plan should have been ready a long time ago as there is strong support with seven out of eight parties behind it.
– The law is very clear. A climate action plan is to be presented during this year. both the prime minister and the climate minister have been clear throughout this year that there will be a climate action plan during the year, he says.
The center leader also says that the party tried to help the government with suggestions on how to solve the issues. The party has also had its eyes on Romina Pourmokhtari and directed a vote of no confidence, where it concerns the content of the climate action plan.
– There, they have pushed it in front of them the whole time. But there is like no space left. It must arrive before the turn of the year. When the climate minister says that it may not come this year, then the intention is to violate the legislation under which she is set to act.
Should have arrived in the fall
He believes that it is obvious that the government does not have a climate policy and is finding it too difficult to come to an agreement.
– There is no room for the climate action plan to come during this year. It is a wrong choice of words. What is most remarkable is that it should have already arrived in the autumn, says the center leader and adds:
