The Israeli military says it has resumed fighting and accuses Hamas of breaking the ceasefire.
“Hamas has broken the pause in the fighting and has also fired at Israel,” the Israeli military (IDF) writes on its account on X, formerly Twitter, and announces that it has resumed the war.
New aerial bombings are currently being carried out against the city of Gaza, reports the news agency AFP’s dispatched reporter who witnesses this. Artillery fire is also fired.
During the morning Israel claimed that during the morning it shot down a rocket fired from Gaza towards Israel. According to Haaretz newspaper, it was the first time since the pause in fighting, or temporary ceasefire, came into effect on November 24 that sirens were heard warning residents of the southern city of Sderot and areas near Gaza. A moment later, the sirens were heard sounding there again.
Hamas-linked media reported early in the morning explosions and gunfire in northern Gaza.
