It is one of the most tourist sites in Paris: nearly 600,000 visitors descend into the darkness of the catacombs each year. This historic site houses the bones of several million people who died in Paris between the 10th and 18th centuries. Currently, the place is the subject of a historic renovation program, because the bone walls are fragile and can deteriorate. Because bone, organic matter, is damaged. It is a meticulous and large-scale work which will be completed in 2026. Guided tour with, 20 meters underground, Isabelle Knafou, site administrator.
