HOSPITAL STRIKE. Nine unions call on caregivers to mobilize this Tuesday, June 7, 2022 to denounce the lack of means and personnel to treat the sick. Dozens of rallies are expected all over France.

The hospital is “desperately mistreated” and the crisis could worsen further this summer. Caregivers warn about their working conditions but especially about the lack of means and sufficient personnel to care for the sick. This Tuesday, June 7, 2022, nine unions are calling on health professionals to mobilize to draw attention to the “situation of the public hospital and also that of the medico-social and social”. The organizers of the social movement, including the CGT, SUD, CFE-CGC and the Inter-Hôpitaux and Inter-Urgences collectives, point out in a statement with regret and anger that “access to primary care is more and more complicated and the hospital no longer fulfills its role as a public service of last resort”. The lack of caregivers has already forced 120 emergency services to close their doors and if the trend is confirmed others could be added to this already long list according to the Samu-Urgence association.

A mobilization day is organized in at least 50 cities in France according to a list drawn up and published on Friday June 4 by the CGT. In Paris, a rally is planned from 1:30 p.m. in front of the Ministry of Health. The cities of Marseille, Grenoble, Toulouse, Nantes and other municipalities are concerned by the mobilization. Protesters are expected to gather in front of hospitals.
