The care conflict – this means the blockade for the patient

When Vårdförbundet and the employers did not reach an agreement, a blockade was started in all regions.

The members will not work overtime and overtime during the conflict period – something that could affect the patients.

– We will ensure that patients with acute conditions and conditions that are serious that must be addressed immediately or very quickly, for example cancer surgery, it will work exactly as normal, says Johan Bratt in Aktuellt, where he is interviewed to talk about the consequences for care and not as a representative of the employer’s side in the conflict.

The patient groups affected

Less urgent operations, plastic surgery and planned return visits are examples of care that can be postponed.

– Then a medical assessment has been made that it is possible to wait another time. If you judge that you can wait a week, you do it, says Bratt and continues:

– I think you should feel completely safe when it comes to healthcare. We will deal with this, but there can be a lot of disruption and confusion for patients precisely because of longer waiting times.

Can order protective work

The regions have varying degrees of overtime work. In Region Jönköping County, where 3,000 of the members work, preparations have been made to cope with care during the conflict with the Vårdförbundet.

– We are currently sitting and doing risk and impact analyzes in the entire operation, says the region’s HR director Patrick Nzamba.

The last resort for the region is to order protective work – which in some situations can be done despite the blockade.

– In cases where there is a danger to life, we will order work in just like today.
