With Cash for Rares, real treasures always come to the dealer’s table. Sometimes the estimated value is so high that the sellers can hardly believe their luck. This happened to a candidate on August 9th, 2023: Her treasure was much more valuable than expected and Horst Lichter had to intervene promptly.
Can hardly believe her luck: her treasure is really worth that much
Sylterin Petra is visibly nervous when she shows up at Bares for Rares. She has an unusual piece of jewelry with her: a pompous brooch that probably originally came from aristocratic circles.
Visually, the piece of jewelry is quite impressive, says diamond expert Wendela Horz. The brooch is special, “Because it used unusually good quality stones for the time it comes from.” The golden piece was made around 1870 and is therefore very old. But the materials are also impressive: Gold and diamonds turn the antique into an exclusive rarity.
When she hears the estimate, she bursts into tears: Emotional Cash for Rares Moment is heartwarming
Wendela Horz rates the elegant piece of jewelry really highly: thanks to the gold value and diamonds, she comes to an estimated value of an incredible 4,000 euros. The saleswoman seems equally surprised at the high assessment and can hardly believe her luck.
Tears immediately well up in her eyesand she puts her hand on her chest. When the saleswoman was at a loss for words because of her emotion, moderation veteran Horst Lichter didn’t hesitate for long. “I notice you’re fighting back tears”he says and pulls the woman into a tight hug. He holds her close to him for a long moment, then sends her into the dealer’s room with words of encouragement.
The dealers are also enthusiastic about the daring showpiece and immediately enter the bidding war. In the end the contract goes to Austria: Art dealer Wolfang Paurtisch makes the deal for a whopping 3,550 euros. The candidate seems satisfied.
