These online calls to demonstrate on the roads are also multiplying in Australia, New Zealand, Germany and Belgium. In France, announcements of a road blockade in Paris from Friday February 11 to Sunday February 13 have been circulating on social networks for a week. In particular on Facebook with groups like “Convoy France” which invective Internet users to come and join them.
For the moment, the protesters are not directly calling for a regrouping or blocking action, said in a video Marisa, spokesperson for this new movement. Facebook groups display the number of their supporters, which is approximately 300,000 cumulatively.
Convoys already on their way to reach Paris
On the other hand, the anonymous organizers of these possible road convoys have chosen a more confidential mode to set up their operations, mainly using encrypted Telegram messaging.
Six “convoys” of carpooling or individuals in their own vehicles would be discreetly already on the way from Bayonne, Nice, Strasbourg or even Cherbourg. The demonstrators indicate in their messages that they want to join Paris this Friday evening. Some demonstrators then call to join Brussels for a “ european convergence on Monday, February 14.
