Upon the call of the Ministry of Foundations and Religious Affairs in Morocco, prayers for rain were made in mosques across the country due to the most severe drought in 41 years.

Mohammad Cenah, Member of the Science Council of Casablanca, told Moroccan media that prayer for rain is a sunnah in which Muslims try to pray to Allah to revive the earth.

Cenah pointed out that citizens of all ages, adults, children, women and men, participated in the rain prayer.

THE HIGHEST Drought in 41 Years

Moroccan Ministry of Foundations and Religious Affairs yesterday called for prayers for rain due to the worst drought in 41 years in the country.

Due to the drought in Morocco in November 2017, upon the call of King Mohammed VI, prayers for rain were made in mosques across the country.

While the share of water per capita in Morocco was 2,500 cubic meters per year in 1960, this amount has decreased to less than 650 cubic meters per year today, and according to the report of the state-affiliated Economic and Social Council, this amount is expected to fall below 500 cubic meters by 2030.
