The Butcher is now considered a laughing stock in Diablo 4 – he is still the final boss for some players

The Butcher is considered the deadliest enemy in Diablo 4. For some he has now become a laughing stock, but other players still fear him and prefer to flee.

Who is the Butcher? The Butcher is a boss who can randomly surprise you in every dungeon. You’ll notice this by the stomping steps with which he comes running towards you. He greets you with the words “Ah, fresh meat!”

Some players can only laugh tiredly at the Butcher. Once you reach higher levels, the Butcher no longer scares you. However, other players still fear the deadly opponent. This includes new players who will be surprised by it, but also players of a specific mode in Diablo 4.

Dreaded enemy in hardcore mode

Which players are afraid of the Butcher? In a post on Reddit, several players write that they flee as soon as they encounter the Butcher. You play Diablo 4 in hardcore mode – a death would be permanent.

The user Handsomesans117 experienced this twice, he writes in his thread. He also posts screenshots showing that he has lost two necromancers to the Butcher. The player characters died at levels 13 and 42. What’s particularly annoying is that the character at level 42 has already spent almost 15 hours of playing time.

In the comments, users discuss the deadly enemy. rubenalamina writes that he leveled up his second hardcore character and immediately went into a dungeon to unlock aspects. His Druid was level 7 and when he encountered the Butcher, he ran back to the entrance and exited the dungeon.

The encounter didn’t end well for xanderg4: “My first hardcore character encountered the Butcher in the first dungeon; I was level 5 and it was simply destroyed. To be honest, all I could do was laugh.”

What do the players advise? And ThanosWasRightHanded recommends just running away from him if you can’t defeat him, because the Butcher literally despawns after a certain distance. “Remember this for your next playthrough,” he writes in the comment.

In a comment, inertSpark shares his tip for escaping the Butcher quickly – but you should exercise some caution:

It’s really okay to do dungeons once you have Scrolls of Escape. All you have to do is hotkey it or place it in an easily accessible slot on the action wheel, then immediately use a scroll if you don’t feel strong enough to kill him.

However, I almost died once when he threw his grappling hook just as I was about to use a scroll.

In the commentary, PringlesDuckFace writes that the Butcher is a real terror until he suddenly isn’t. It feels kind of bad when you find him and just wipe him out – like the players are the real butchers, he writes. At high levels and with strong builds, the Butcher is no longer a problem for many.
Which builds will dominate in Season 6 will become clear from October 8th. An expert has already shown an absurd build in Diablo 4 with one of the new skills.
