At the end of December 2024, the budget of the Paris Games Organizing Committee (Cojo) reached 4.481 billion euros compared to 4.397 billion euros at the end of 2023, Agence France Presse learned this Wednesday, December 11 from the organizers of the Olympic Games -2024. In 2018, it was 3.8 billion euros, higher than the 3.2 billion entered in the application file. After making the final calculations relating to the last high-risk year, the revenues generated by Cojo are 26.8 million euros higher than expenses, in particular due to the success of ticketing.

These figures will be presented Thursday during the Cojo board of directors. If these accounts are adopted on Thursday, Tony Estanguet plans to “complete his mission” as president at that time. Cojo as such will be dissolved at the end of June 2025.

A larger ticket sales than expected, at 1.333 billion euros

The Cojo budget is almost entirely private. It is based on money from sponsors (1.238 billion euros), the International Olympic Committee (1.228 billion EUR) and ticket sales which was higher than expected at 1.333 billion euros, or 88 million more than expected. in December 2023. More than 12 million tickets have been sold in total.

Some 40 million euros requested in the spring from the State and partner communities (city of Paris, Ile-de-France region, mainland) will not be activated.

60% of the surplus for French sport

The distribution of the surplus of 27 million euros has not yet been decided even if it is statutorily provided that a part goes to the French Olympic Committee (CNOSF), to the IOC as well as 60% to the development of French sport .

Furthermore, by virtue of marketing rights, it is already planned to “donate 9 million euros” to the CNOSF and the French Paralympic Committee (CPSF).
