An opposition parliamentarian in Turkey is in intensive care after being hit in the head during a heated budget debate.
The Turkish news agency DHA reports that it is the member Huseyin Ors of the Good Party (LYI) who is beaten by the parliamentarian Zafer Isik of the ruling party AKP.
Several other members fell during the commotion.
Huseyin Or’s party colleague Aylin Cesur, who is a trained doctor, gave her party mate first aid on the floor of the chamber. According to her, Or’s condition remains critical.
– He is still receiving intensive care, says Aylin Cesur to DHA and states that Or’s general condition is not good after the blow to the head.
Members fighting in the chamber has happened before in the Turkish parliament. For example, a fist fight occurred in 2020 during a debate about Turkey’s military involvement in Syria.
