Opposition politicians criticized the new prime minister for, among other things, the economy and the interior minister Suella Braverman’s reelection.
Britain’s new prime minister Rishi Sunak appointed Braverman as his cabinet’s interior minister just a week after he resigned after using a private email address to send an official document.
– Was the Minister of the Interior right to resign last week because of a security breach? Leader of the British Labor Party Keir Starmer asked Sunak.
According to Sunak, Braverman made an error in judgment, which he has recognized. Sunak said he would be happy to welcome the interior minister back.
In his speech, Starmer also hoped for new parliamentary elections.
Sunak replied that the Conservative Party’s mandate is based on the program that elected it to power and that the Labor Party lost the last election. Sunak has previously rejected demands for early elections.
The Prime Minister took office yesterday
On Wednesday afternoon, Sunak was examined by the parliament for the first time.
Sunak started as prime minister only yesterday, Tuesday, when his predecessor, the conservatives Liz Truss ran into a dead end in his position after being prime minister for only six weeks.
At the same time, the new prime minister revealed the names of the ministers who are part of the core team of his government. Jeremy Hunt continue as Minister of Finance. He is the Minister of Foreign Affairs James Cleverly and Ben Wallace is the Minister of Defense.
