The Brazilian Manassés de Sousa, self-taught guitarist and outstanding musician

Cultural report

Manassés de Sousa started playing the guitar at the age of 4 and turned professional at 13.

He has played alongside Bernard Lavilliers, Paco de Lucia and Chico Buarque, but it is as a soloist and composer that Manassés de Sousa is considered one of the great names in Brazilian music. Armed with his 12-string guitar, he has just released a new record, Mana-Mano, which he will perform in concert this Sunday evening in Paris, at the Maison du Brésil of the Cité Universitaire Internationale. Manassés de Sousa’s course and play are exceptional in many ways.
