The star told Rolling Stone:
If I remember correctly, it was in the scripts. It started with that I am my Oedipal mother [Elisabeth Shue als Madelyn Stillwell] I watch her breastfeeding and am jealous of the baby. And then Homelander finds her breast milk in season 2. [Er] she drinks and gets caught.

According to Starr, he was then convinced of the fetish:
