The fourth season of the superhero satire The Boys has just finished. Fans of the Amazon series already know that there will be a fifth season after that. But that will also be the final chapter.
Until the curtain opens for the final season, it will take until 2026. Showrunner Eric Kripke has already revealed the super cards.

Here’s what The Boys boss has planned for season 5, as he revealed in an interview with Ladbible (via ScreenRant), where he also discussed the recently concluded season:
I think the Season 4 finale really showed what we’ve been planning for five years, because it’s impossible for a show to do another season after the events of the finale. As far as we’re concerned, it’s our version of an apocalypse. Homelander gets everything he wanted from the beginning by completely reshaping the United States according to his image and whims.

The Boys are at their lowest point, most of them trapped, and we’re worried about the future. I always see it as, out of the five seasons, we’re at a point that would be about the end of the second act in the movie, where everyone is really at their lowest point and they’ve faced their personal demons. Now they all have to come together in season 5 and save the world.
Whether and how they could succeed is something only readers of the comic book original * by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which was completed in 2012, can guess. That is, provided Kripke and his The Boys team stick to the original.
