The Walking Dead may seem disturbing, tragic, brutal, sometimes cruel: but when compared to the zombie franchises, it can’t even begin to hold a candle to the comic book Crossed. In the series, written by The Boys author Garth Ennis, infected hordes commit incredibly disturbing acts of violence. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ennis and the producers of the film adaptation have now announced the perfect director for the adaptation: Rob Jabbaz.
The Boys writer and The Sadness director are working on zombie massacre
Jabbaz is primarily for his feature debut, the extremely violent zombie film The Sadness, known. The shocker was heavily influenced by Ennis’ Crossed comics, as can be seen in the fact that the infected in both stories share certain characteristics.
Unlike The Walking Dead, for example, Crossed is not clearly about the undead. The infected have all the motor skills of a normal person, are capable of thinking and are self-aware. What sets them apart from the healthy people, however, is their cruciform scars on their face insatiable desire for sadistic cruelty.
The hordes in Crossed torture, rape, dismember and kill their victims in front of their loved ones. And all of this with a malicious grin on his face that is very similar to that of the infected from The Sadness.
When is the Crossed horror coming to the cinema?
According to Variety’s report on Jabbaz, producers would like to begin filming in March 2025. The budget is estimated at a comparatively low $2-3 million and could indicate short production phases in the future. The film may end up in cinemas at the end of 2025, There is no official start date yet.
