The boss of Ubisoft’s new shooter shows powerful weapon setups for the open beta that he enjoys

The boss of XDefiant is a passionate shooter player and shares with you his favorite weapon setups from the open beta.

XDefiant is a new first-person shooter being developed by Ubisoft and scheduled for release in Summer 2023. Various PvP modes such as Domination and Payload are played, in which you play with different factions from Ubisoft titles.

After a closed test for XDefiant ran in April 2023, the shooter is currently inviting you to an open beta. This has been playable since June 21 and offers the opportunity to try out the various weapons and their setups before the shooter is released.

Who is the person you are talking about? Mark Rubin is Executive Producer at Ubisoft and the boss of XDefiant. The developer is extremely communicative on Twitter and very passionate about XDefiant.

But Rubin not only talks about detected bugs, updates or plans for the future, he also actively plays the shooter himself. For the Open Beta he has now shared two weapon setups with which he is currently having a lot of fun.

  • a P90 setup
  • a Vector setup
  • We’ve translated Mark Rubin’s setups into German and rebuilt them for you to test in the time-limited beta.

What are weapon setups? In XDefiant there are 24 weapons with 44 different attachments. You can decide for yourself which components your weapons consist of. Your choice then influences various factors such as the rate of fire, the damage at medium or short range or the ADS time.

You can change a total of five out of seven components for each weapon: the muzzle, the barrel, the front barrel, the sights, the magazine, the rear grip and the stock.

    Mark Rubin’s P90:

Mark Rubin’s P90 uses the Rapid Fire barrel for an increased rate of fire and combines it with a magazine that reduces reload time. In addition, a muzzle is installed, which increases damage at short and medium distances. The “Super Light” front leg also increases your character’s movement speed.

  • Muzzle: barrel extension
  • Run: Rapid Fire
  • Foreleg: Super light
  • Visor: Reflex
  • Magazine: Rasches Magazin
  • rear grip: /
  • Shank: /
  • Rubin describes the P90 setup on Twitter as his personal go-to loadout, because the submachine gun received a buff with the open beta and now has a higher headshot multiplier (patch notes via Ubisoft.com).

The Vector .45 ACP by Mark Rubin

With his vector setup, Mark Rubin relies on high movement speed and fast movement. It achieves this with the “folding stock”, light barrel and the “super light” front barrel. Rubin does without a sight in favor of the barrel extension and the extended magazine.

  • Muzzle: barrel extension
  • Run: Easy
  • Foreleg: Super light
  • Visor: /
  • Magazine: Extended magazine
  • rear grip: /
  • Stock: folding stock
  • According to Rubin, the Vector setup offers one of the fastest running speeds in the game and “shreds” opponents, especially at close range (via Twitter). However, since it is said to be weak over long distances, you must try to get as close as possible to your opponents.

Bonus: M60 machine gun setup from the closed beta

Already at the closed beta in April 2023, Rubin showed individual weapon setups that convinced him. One of them is for the M60 machine gun and, according to Rubin, is supposed to “melt” your opponents’ life bars (via Twitter).

Above all, the key aspect of the M60 setup is the increased rate of fire in combination with an increased reload speed.

  • Muzzle: muzzle accelerator
  • Run: Rapid Fire
  • Foreleg: Vertical
  • Visor: Reflex
  • Magazine: Rasches Magazin
  • rear grip: /
  • Shank: /
