The boss of Monster Hunter Wilds is almost certain that they have made one thing particularly well this time

Monster Hunter Wilds offers players 14 different weapons types to go hunting. And when it comes to Director Yuya Tokuda, you should use as many of them as possible.

What kind of thing is that supposed to be? It is about the balancing of the individual weapons in the game. In a conversation with the website Gamesradar+, Yuya Tokuda, Director of Monster Hunter Wilds, explains which philosophy she pursued during balancing.

Players should not run through the whole game with a weapon

Why is that so difficult? Balancing is often a difficult matter in action games. Many players enjoy sweeping through the opponents with a broken build. However, if a weapon or build are too overpowering, the motivation to try out something else drops.

It is also kind of boring when everyone rely on the same few meta-builds. Conversely, the players are often dissatisfied when a powerful favorite building is generated.

How does Monster Hunter Wilds solve that? Tokuda explains to Gamesradar+ that no weapon should be so strong that every monster can simply be succumbed to. “I want players to think about it and really treat the weapons and skills like a kind of toolbox with which they can find the best way and the best strategy to defeat a monster,” said the game director.

So the players should not just grab some weapon, set up their skills and be equipped for the entire game. Instead, some weapons are better suited to succumb to certain monsters, while a suitable skill building can give a more or less great advantage.

The comparison between two weapons is therefore less to result in which weapon is stronger or weaker, but on how suitable the respective weapon is for the chosen prey. For this, the power differences between the weapons should be as low as possible.

The Game Director also admits that it is not about it to decide to what extent the developers have achieved this goal. Until the release on February 28, he was therefore “confident, but not cocky.” He would wait and see what the players say, then you can still make adjustments in the future.

So that you can really use the different weapons, you can lead a second weapon with you. For Meinmmo editor Alex, this is one of the 8 new features that make Monster Hunter Wilds better than his predecessors.
