Fumio Kishida was to give an election speech in Wakayama when someone suddenly threw an object at him. Films of one of the bodyguards’ resourceful actions have circulated on social media, and Tom Schuterman, who previously, among other things, worked as a bodyguard for Princess Madeleine, is impressed by his quick action.
– He makes a fantastic decision. He saves the whole situation, says Tom Schuterman.
Within seconds, the bodyguard has stopped the object, put it away with his foot and deployed his ‘ballistic briefcase’, to protect the Prime Minister. According to Tom Schuterman, the briefcase is a classic tool in the personal protection industry.
– The briefcase has many layers of plastic that lie on top of each other and can protect against a grenade attack, automatic weapons or an acid attack, he says.
The Prime Minister was taken away from the object, which shortly afterwards exploded. No one was seriously injured and a perpetrator was arrested at the scene.
In the video above, Tom Schuterman takes us through why the bodyguard does “everyone right”
