The Culture Committee has distributed the committee’s organizational contribution, but in December the board of the Sami Parliament decided to take over the work themselves.
– Their main task should not be to distribute funds to organizations, said Håkan Jonsson, chairman of the board of the Sami Parliament.
The decision was already criticized and the Sámiland Party claims that this is against the Sámi Parliament’s rules of procedure.
– It cannot be changed without the rules of procedure being changed by the plenum. The plenum is above the board, therefore the plenum must change the rules of procedure before the board itself can decide on a change in the decision-making process, says Marianne Gråik, chairman of the Samiland Party.
Therefore, they are now appealing the decision and want the administrative court to review it.
– It is a democratic problem with the board moving decision-making power from the committees to themselves, says Gråik.
