Some of the blockbusters currently in production and now at risk of being delayed are ‘Wonder Woman 3’, ‘Ghostbusters 4’, ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ and ‘Avatar’ parts 3 and 4. Ridley Scott’s upcoming Gladiator sequel is also expected affected, according to the BBC.
The Swedish actor Alexander Karim, who appears in “Gladiator 2”, tells TV4 Nyheterna that the general strike has major consequences, but that it is being done for a good cause.
– All major reforms in world history have been implemented after people put their foot down. It always leads to someone getting stuck and productions having to be paused, but in the end it usually turns out better, says Alexander Karim, who is currently filming Gladiator 2 with several American actors.
The hit series may be delayed
As for TV series, there may be delays for, among others, HBO’s “House of the Dragon”.
The actors’ union SAG-AFTRA, which announced at a press conference Thursday that the strike would begin at midnight local time, represents 160,000 actors, broadcast journalists, hosts, dancers, DJs and stunt performers and has not gone on strike since 1980.
The screenwriters are also on strike, since May 2. The last time both screenwriters and actors in Hollywood went on strike together was 1960.
